A multi-media filter (also known as a mechanical filter) is a typical multi-media filter based on a bed of layered anthracite, sand, finely divided garnet or other materials.
The top layer of the machine consists of the lightest and coarsest grades of material, while the heaviest and finest grades are placed in the lower part of the bed. The principle is depth filtration - larger particles in the water are removed in the top layer, and smaller particles are removed in the deeper layers of the filter medium. So that the water quality reaches the standard after coarse filtration.
The equipment is pressure type. The principle is that when the raw water passes through the filter material from top to bottom, the suspended solids in the water are trapped by the surface of the filter layer due to adsorption and mechanical resistance; The sand particles in the water are arranged more closely, so that the particles in the water have more opportunities to collide with the sand particles, so the flocs, suspended solids and the surface of the sand particles in the water adhere to each other, and the impurities in the water are trapped in the filter material layer, thereby obtaining clarified water quality. The filtered effluent suspension can be below 5 mg/L.
1. Porous media filters are widely used in water treatment processes and can be used alone, but most of them are used as pre-filtration for advanced water quality treatment (exchange resin, electrodialysis, reverse osmosis).
2. Multi-media filter is a commonly used pretreatment device for deep water purification, and different filter materials can be added according to process requirements.
3. The material of the multi-media filter can be made of glass fiber reinforced plastic, A3 steel anti-corrosion or rubber-lined, all stainless steel. There are two modes of operation, automatic and manual. The automatic control adopts the automatic controller imported from the United States and the control of pneumatic and hydraulic valves. It is easy to operate and easy to maintain. It is widely used in the pre-treatment devices of water treatment processes in all walks of life. .
4. The filter material of the multi-media filter (including the double filter material filter) should have sufficient chemical stability, and the relative density and particle size of each medium should be different to a certain extent. The double-layer filter material composed of anthracite and quartz sand filters The relative density of anthracite used in the filter is 1.4-1.6, the particle size is 0.8-1.8mm, the relative density of quartz sand is 2.6-2.65, the particle size is 0.5-1.2mm; the 3-layer filter material filter is in addition to the above two In addition to the filter material, heavy ores such as manganese sand and magnetite can also be used, with a relative density of 4.7-5.0 and a particle size of 0.5-4mm.
